Why I built a provenance registry for watches

Hi, I’m Paul. Two years ago I bought the watch I’d wanted for years: a 2005 Rolex 16710 GMT-Master II, the “Pepsi.” It came with its original papers (the actual paper certificate Rolex used back then) but no box. The country code pointed to India, and the papers were dated 2006.

That’s when the questions started. How did this watch travel from India to the United States over almost twenty years? Who wore it? Had it been serviced, and by whom? Somewhere in there was a real story, and I had no way to find it.

Eventually I sent it to Rolex Service Center in New York City for a full service and a new bezel insert. A year later I sold it to fund a Rolex 126610 Submariner (selling the Pepsi is still my biggest regret as a collector). I’ve bought and sold a number of watches since then, and the same feeling comes back every time.

Every pre-owned watch carries a history. Almost none of it survives the sale.

When I buy, I want to know where a watch has been and what’s been done to it. When I sell, I want the next owner to inherit that record instead of starting from zero.

What The Atlas Registry does

The Atlas Registry is a private record of your watches and their stories (ownership, provenance, service history, papers, and the details that never fit on a listing). Log a watch once, add to it over the years, and pass the complete history along when the watch moves on, whether you sell it, gift it, or hand it down.

Built for collectors and dealers

I designed the platform for individual collectors and watch dealers alike. Provenance gets more valuable as more of it exists: the more owners who record their watches’ histories, the more complete the picture becomes for everyone who buys and sells after them.

Your history stays yours

Everything you record is private by default. Nothing is shared with anyone unless you choose to share it.
